I have had the wonderful privlage of training a couple of German shepherds in my time. German Shepherd training, if done right can be a relatively easy task. Make sure that you start to train your dog at an early age to refrain it from undesirable habits. It is very important that you become the pack leader of your pet because it can be dominant and take over that role if you don’t. You need to gain the dogs respect by consistent love and lots of obedience training.

Obedience training will not only enrich your relationship with your pup but it’s a great way to establish the social hierarchy in your home between your dog, yourself, and your family. You can make your dog sit and wait to be fed (this is the easiest thing to start with in my opinion-can you say motivation), or make your dog wait for you to walk out the door first.

Training your German shepherd helps your dog to acknowledge your role and leadership because you make him wait to get what he wants until he obeys your commands. Just like any other dog, good behavior must be recognized and rewarded with positive reinforcements during training. To prevent him from becoming a one-man dog, make sure that all family members in your household take part in the training. This is a very important step and you will be sorry if your dog ends up not taking commands from anyone else.

The German Shepherd breed is known for having an intense sense of bonding with its’ owner(s). They need consistent attention and deep affection to prevent its behavior from turning negative. They can have a tendency to get goofy and get a little out of control when no one is looking or paying attention to them for long periods of time.

A German shepherd is a working dog so give it a daily job or an activity to do to keep him from finding his own, which could eventually lead to trouble (with a capital T). The real test of training is where your dog actually performs the commands with distractions all around at any given time and any place. During training once you feel comfortable with your dog obedience command progress, practice these commands in different areas of your yard and your home. Make sure you set a daily schedule, keep your sessions short and sweet, and make dog training fun for your German Shepherd.

Security and convenience is probably some of the first few words that cross your mind when you think of locking dog doors. They make life easier when you are trying to house train your pet and it gives the dog a chance to go outside and roam around in the yard. It gives them the opportunity to exercise instead of just lying around when no one is in the house with them. At the same time, it gives you a sense of security knowing your doors are locked.

There are various types of locking dog doors such as magnetic, automatic, and electronic. A locking dog door that is installed in an existing door would not require any extra locking devices. The lock on the door would be a source of security in itself. The dog is not going to care if the door is locked or unlocked. The dog just wants to be able to go in and out when the notion is there. The dog door gives that freedom to pet and also secures the house from potential intruders.

Good locking dog doors will provide an outlet to the outside world and be a strong defense against other animals trying to get into the home, of course, the dog will also be prevention. Your pet will be a lot happier and less likely to be destructive if they can go outside when they become bored or just need to do their thing. Working all day and then having to come home and clean up a mess is not the finish you want to have at the end of your work day.

I guess if you summed it all up, a good locking dog door would be convenient for the pet and less taxing on the pet owner. It would provide a necessity for the animal that is left home all day or night and provide the pet owner with a sense of security knowing their doors are locked in their absence. It is also a way for the dog to get some exercise when left home alone and less likely to be destructive due to boredom.

If you have ever been around animals you have probably heard people refer to dogs as “mixed breed” or “pedigree”. There is a big difference between mixed breed dogs and pedigree dogs. If you are not familiar with what exactly makes a dog pedigree, here is a guide to what determines if a dog is considered pedigree or not.

A pedigree dog is a dog whose lineage has been tracked for many years and recorded generally on paper. When you look at your dogs pedigree you will get to see who their parents where, grandparents and so on. It is very much like looking at a person’s ancestry except of course with dogs. A dog’s pedigree can be very formal. You will see names much different than the usual “Fido” on these papers.

A pedigree dog is also considered pureblooded or with two parents who also have pedigrees that are usually of the same breed. An example of this is two poodles being bred together to have pureblooded poodle puppies. Many times people will buy pedigree dogs just to breed them so they can make profits from selling the pedigree puppies. Once the puppies are born you can create a pedigree so you are able to present it with the puppy to prove that it is pedigree. You will need certain information when you go to fill out the pedigree papers. There are some free pedigree generators you can find online that assists you with the process.

Pedigree dogs are recognizable in a lot of ways. They begin to have certain physical and personality traits that you can look to help you determine if they are pedigree. For example a certain lineage of dogs will begin to have the same style of coat or fur, the same color and will be a certain size. There are some cases where in pedigree dogs selective breeding takes place which means that the breeders took two dogs with similar physical and personality traits and bred them to ensure the puppies would be the same. If you are looking for a pedigree puppy and want to know what he or she will be like when they are older chances are you can just look at the parents and you will get a good idea.

If you decide to purchase a pedigree dog it is a good idea to research the breed you are looking at to make sure it will meet your needs. For example, some breeds are not good with children so you will want to stay away from these. If you do your research you will be able to find the perfect pedigree dog for you!
